1 year old!

milo turned one year old on december 7. his other set of grandparents were in town, and milo decided that since he hadn't seen them in a little while, he'd pull out all the stops, and he took his first steps while they were here.

here is milo with his gram and grandpa:

that was two weeks ago, and now he doesn't even bother with crawling anymore. he wants to walk everywhere, and he likes to walk just for the pure pleasure of walking.

milo has also added some new words and signs to his vocabulary and can follow lots of simple directions from us about his favorite objects and people: "bring the monkey to mama," "give that to dada," "give a treat to katie (the dog)," etc.

speaking of katie, milo and the dog are completely in love with each other. the first sign that milo did with any regularity was the sign for "dog," and he signs it to us a dozen times a day: when he wants to see katie, when he hears her barking, when it's time to feed her. katie is very sweet with him.

here are some photos from the last month and a half:

milo got to meet the rest of his mom's family at thanksgiving:

us with milo before meeting some friends for dinner:

on his first birthday, i made milo a fat free pumpkin spice bread instead of birthday cake:

milo got a car from his aunt cynthia and was playing with it happily only minutes after opening it:

i'll update later this week with a few videos.

happy holidays!

Hi Joanna and Family

I couldnt believe it when I found your website...I was just idly surfing whilst my own son , Milo Bear, is having a nap and decided to google his name and WOW !!!..just thought you may be interested to know there is another in the world. This Milo lives on the Wirral in the UK and was born February 2008.
We decided on Milo as it's an unusual name here in UK and we liked the sound of it, plus we have a long surname so it had to be something short, the "Bear" is after my husband Mark, Ive always nicknamed him "Big Bear" so this was little Bear plus we thought it would be cute when he is little and cool when he's older !! Where did your inspiration strike from (hope you don't mind me asking)... great minds hey ?!!
Anyhow, just thought you'd like to know, your son is gorgeous by the way (aren't all Milo's ??)
Love
Shally
