i can't believe that it's been over two months since i updated last! when you have an active toddler, you spend so much time just chasing them around that it's hard to squeeze in everything else.
milo has had a very active few months!
first, there was christmas.
milo and his dad, candlelit at the christmas eve service:
milo spent all of the service in the narthex with his dad, making friends with another 1-year-old, but he loved the part after the service where everyone stood around outside in the candlelight, singing.
here is milo on christmas morning, feeling a little overwhelmed surrounded by chattering family:
this christmas-y photo of us was actually taken on february 9:
we're a little slow to take down decorations around here, since it's my absolute favorite time of year, so i try to stretch the holiday out as long as i possibly can. poor milo will have to endure years of kids coming over to our house and asking why our christmas tree is still up at the end of january.
we have been going on short trips around texas a lot, having little adventures, and milo is such a great traveler that even strangers comment on how easy-going he is. it's true; he's so excellent at entertaining himself that we never worry about taking him anywhere.
during a trip to austin in january, milo kept busy playing with his cellphone (one of our old, inactivated models) while his dad got his hair cut:
here's milo at green vegetarian restaurant in san antonio, getting hugs from his dad while we wait for our food:
here is milo riding on his dad's back at enchanted rock, where we hiked for four straight hours a few weeks ago.
by the end of the day, we all wished we had been carried around on someone's back. here is milo at the campsite right before he got so filthy playing in the dirt that we were worried that someone would call child protective services on us:
the last time that i wrote, milo was a new walker. now he is practically a runner. he wants to be walking around outside as much as possible, as many hours of the day that he can. we bought him some soft sole shoes, and while he's not typically the kid who wants to sit in your lap, as soon as he sees me reach for his shoes, he runs over and crawls into my lap and presents his feet for shoe-ing, because he knows that means he's going outside.
here is a view that i have almost every day lately, milo's back as he's running away:
but i know why you're really here. you want a video. i will deliver! the password for the video is "milo."
he's wearing one of the amazing traditional japanese outfits that his beloved aunt melissa sent to him. all of milo's best clothes are japanese.
the weather is already heating up here, so expect to see in our next post a lot of photos of outdoor fun. milo seems to be a little freaked out by swimming pools right now, which is a shame, because the neighbors across the way have a beautiful swimming pool. we're hoping this fear won't carry over to natural water sources, since our plans for enduring the next few months involve a lot of time in the water.
i promise that i won't wait so long before updating again!
